With a golden crust and aromatic finish from freshly grated Parmesan, they elevate family dinners, holiday celebrations, or simply serve as a delicious snack. Made from staple pantry ingredients, you can have warm, homemade dinner rolls ready in just about an hour. Serve them alongside roasted chicken, pasta, or enjoy them with marinara sauce for dipping—their irresistible taste will quickly make them a favorite at your dining table.

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour
  • Active dry yeast
  • Warm water
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Unsalted butter
  • Garlic powder
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water with sugar and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, salt, garlic powder, and half the flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until combined; gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Punch down the risen dough and shape it into small balls. Place close together in a greased baking dish.
  6. Cover again and let rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

For extra flavor, brush melted garlic butter on top after baking.

Customize by adding herbs like rosemary or thyme or incorporating sun-dried tomatoes or olives into the dough.
